COLUMBUS, Ohio, July 12 /PRNewswire/-- (NYSE: VCD - news) announced today total sales for the five weeks ended July 7, 2001, increased 5.0% to $214.7 million from $204.4 million for the five weeks ended July 1, 2000. The company's same store sales decreased 1.2% for the five weeks ended July 7, 2001.

Sales for the 22 weeks ended July 7, 2001, increased 8.9% to $919.2 million from $843.9 million for the 22 weeks ended July 1, 2000. The company's same store sales decreased 3.9% for the 22 weeks ended July 7, 2001.
